Celebrate Free People, Free Markets this Saturday

November 30, 2011 J

I’m not sure about you but I’ve grown tired of hearing the obnoxious, misinformed, unruly left-wingers of Occupy Wall Street arrogantly presuming to speak for the “99 percent,” since they sure don’t speak for me or most Americans I know. Now, however, we don’t have to just take this verbal (and sometimes physical) assault in silence, thanks to a rally this Saturday, Dec. 3, on the West steps of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver. The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., rain, snow or sunshine, and will feature a variety of liberty-minded, solutions-oriented speakers.

It’s there that the voices of America’s real 99 percent will be raised above the OWS din, in defense of limited government, fiscal responsibility, regulatory restraint, free enterprise and other ideas rarely heard inside OWS camps.

Americans need to be reminded that OWS crazies don’t speak for the 99 percent — much less the 9 percent. Americans need to know how few of us support their radical, socialist, pro-government agenda. Not all of us look toward big government as the answer to every problem, or as the answer to every grievance. And this is a chance to drive the point home.

The Free Markets, Free People Rally will reiterate our support for the nation’s founding principles, and our belief that unfettered free enterprise and private charity, not forced redistribution of wealth and class warfare, are the best ways to address economic and social inequities. The gathering will emphasize the need to look to free people, not the government, to solve our problems and get America back on track. Supporters will promote the benefits of private charity by conducting a charity food drive. The goal of this drive is to aid struggling Americans most in need of assistance, especially during the economic downturn and the winter months. The rally, which is being spearheaded by State Sen. Shawn Mitchell, is not affiliated with any specific organization or group, but I strongly encourage AFP supporters to participate if they can.

Here are the rally details once again:
