Denver, CO – Americans for Prosperity, the leading grassroots voice fighting to stop the farm bill from passing Congress, today thanked five members of the Colorado Congressional delegation for voting “no” on the bill. Those representatives include: Mike Coffman (R-6), Diana Degette (D-1), Doug Lamborn (R-5), Ed Perlmutter (D-7), and Jared Polis (D-2).
“American agriculture will not grind to a halt is response to this week’s welcome rejection of a pork-laden, business-as-usual Farm Bill by the U.S. House,” explained Sean Paige, Deputy State Director of AFP-Colorado. “And American farmers may benefit in the long-run from this clear signal that Congress may finally be done rubber-stamping the same failed farm policies we’ve had since the Great Depression, and move into a new era of freedom and market-oriented American agriculture. That some Colorado Republicans unfortunately backed this bill shows that the GOP still has work to do in shoring-up its reputation as the party of limited government, fiscal responsibility and free markets.”
