What is wrong with Illinois? As a voter, taxpayer, and member of Americans for Prosperity, I am appalled by the fiscal irresponsibility from our elected officials in Springfield. If the "pay-to-play" of the Blagojevich era wasn't enough, we find that it continues today. The much needed capital spending bill was polluted with pork for politically connected campaign donors.
READ MOREAs a voter and member of Americans for Prosperity, I ask our Illinois state representative and senators to vote NO on any and all tax increase proposals presented to the Illinois General Assembly for fiscal year 2010. This could not be a worse time to raise our taxes.

Big Taxes, Big Oil, Big Trouble

President Obama and his closest congressional ally Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) are proposing more than $400 billion in new taxes and fees on the oil and natural gas industry.
Why not? Going after "Big Oil" does not require much political capital.
Sadly, the reality is new energy taxes would stifle an economic recovery by increasing energy prices for Americans. More than 80% of Illinois homes are heated by natural gas and there are more that 251 million passenger cars that run on gasoline.
