Congress Daily reports this morning that the Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection Subcommittee ranking member Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., said the FTC should be given more authority to investigate inflated prices. More authority. The government always wants more authority.

Like you, we here at AFP are keyed up over the just launched Operation Offset, spearheaded by the Republican Study Committee. It’s so refreshing to finally see politicians take the initiative and show a little fiscal responsibility. We’ve been reading over the RSC’s Budget Offset Options (which for the most part seem reasonable) and we encourage you to do the same.

We are willing to give the Johnson County Sun editorial board a break; celestial events often have a way of throwing reason into a tailspin. At least that’s the only explanation we can think of as to why they are so confused about how helpful a Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR) would be for Kansas.
