AFP-Arkansas Expresses Concern Over Council Vote to Further Health Care Exchanges

April 24, 2012

Today Americans for Prosperity – Arkansas expressed grave concern in response to the Arkansas Legislative Council (ALC) voting in favor of spending well over $7 million to implement key components of the President Obama’s Healthcare Bill.

Two weeks ago the Council’s PEER sub-committee denied this funding request from Insurance Commissioner Jay Bradford. Never-the-less the matter was brought before the ALC for review.

“It is disappointing that Governor Beebe, Commissioner Bradford and members of the state legislature are pushing such a liberal agenda from Washington DC that Arkansans have so clearly rejected.” said AFP-Arkansas Director Teresa Oelke.

“Arkansas will have no control of the decisions, we have no idea how much a HIE will cost or how we will pay for it. This is Washington style spending that disgusts the hardworking taxpayers of Arkansas.”
