Americans for Prosperity Press Release

AFP-Arizona and The LIBRE Initiative Urge Senators to Support a Permanent Solution for Dreamers

Jan 23, 2019 by AFP

PHOENIX, AZ – As lawmakers in Washington continue discussions this week to end the government shutdown, Americans for Prosperity-Arizona and The LIBRE Initiative are urging Senators McSally and Sinema to work together toward a narrow solution that provides a permanent solution for Dreamers – rather than the short-term protections currently proposed. The Senate is currently scheduled to vote on Thursday on the short-term proposal.

AFP-AZ State Director Andrew Clark and The Libre Arizona Coalitions Director Carlos Alfaro issued a joint statement:

As discussions continue and Congress prepares to consider a proposal that dually addresses Dreamers and border security, it’s critical that our senators work towards a narrow package that provides both permanent legal status to Dreamers and funds border security. We encourage Senators McSally and Sinema to advocate on behalf of the best interests of all Arizonans by supporting a proposal that dually emphasizes certainty for Dreamers and security for our border.”

This week, The Libre Initiative is making calls in Arizona to urge Senator Sinema and McSally to support a permanent solution for Dreamers.

Earlier this week, Americans for Prosperity released a joint letter to Congress and the president cautioning on a temporary Dreamer fix. Read that letter here.
