AFP's Jenney Reacts to EPA Power Plant Regulations
The Arizona chapter of Americans for Prosperity is calling on the state’s congressional delegation to work to block regulations proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency today.
AFP-Arizona State Director Tom Jenney released the following statement ahead of President Obama’s comments:
“Almost everyone concedes that this kind of regulatory adventurism is not going to do any real good for our environment, yet Arizonans are going to be hit in the wallet yet again. It’s going to be an even hotter summer if energy prices keep rising thanks to Washington bureaucrats in the Obama administration. I implore our representatives in Congress to find a solution to block this latest EPA power grab. With America’s economy now contracting, families need to know their government isn’t making it tougher for them to put food on the table and still pay their energy bills.”
According to estimates from the Chamber of Commerce, these regulations could suck $51 billion out of our still-struggling economy, cost 224,000 jobs every year, and cost Americans $289 billion more in electricity bills by 2030.
The New Regulations Will Destroy Jobs And Make Gas, Groceries And Everyday Items More Expensive For Families
EPA’s New Rules Could Cost Us $289B in Extra Energy Bills by 2030, Lower Disposable Income $86B. (Assessing the Impact of Proposed New Carbon Regulations in the United States, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 4/2014)
