Phoenix, July 31: EPA hearing on coal-fired power plants
Thanks to Central Arizona Project board member Mark Lewis for rallying the troops to this important event. In his email, Lewis wrote:
The EPA is having a hearing in Phoenix on Tuesday July 31, at the Federal Court house, to review rules on coal fired power plants. We should attend this in a group to oppose the massive cost increases we will be facing from the over regulation of coal fired power plants. These rules affect St. Johns power plants, Benson power plants, and Page area jobs. Phoenix and Tucson area power prices. Talking points and back up data are attached. See NGS letter signed by AZ Congressman from both parties. If you cannot attend please send an official letter to the EPA with your comments.
Lewis argues that the proposed EPA regulations would shut down Arizona coal power plants, raise power & water rates by 7 percent to 30 percent, and kill jobs for Arizona residents.
Lewis, who can be reached at mark@marklewis.com and/or 602-499-3095, is urging activists to attend the EPA’s Public Hearing on Tuesday July 31, 2012 at 6:00 PM at the Federal Court house. He and activists are rallying at Sticklers Restaurant at 330 W. Washington across from the courthouse at 4:30 PM for a briefing before the 5 PM hearing. (Parking is available inside the city garage.)
