At AFP-Arizona’s awards luncheon on Saturday, November 16, we will honor the Arizona Legislators who earned the designation of “Hero of the Taxpayer” on our 2013 Legislative Scorecard. We are grateful for their efforts to fight for limited government in a very contentious session and to push for policies to advance economic prosperity! At the event, Senator Judy Burges (R-Sun Cities) will receive the coveted stuffed and mounted jackalope* that she earned as our Barry M. Goldwater Legislator of the Year.
In addition to allowing AFP-Arizona to honor the Heroes of the Taxpayer in the Arizona Legislature, our luncheon will feature two awards by our sister organization, Americans for Prosperity Foundation – Arizona. Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio will receive the John W. Dawson “Local Hero” Award (also a mounted jackalope*) for his tireless efforts to fight excessive taxation and reform the city’s out-of-control pension practices, and Marcus Huey will receive AFPF-Arizona’s 2013 Activist of the Year award.
The keynote speaker at the luncheon will be editorial writer Steve Moore of the Wall Street Journal, sponsored by the Leadership Institute.
The event will be held on Saturday, November 16 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort. To attend the event, please register at our eventbrite site:
(Or, contact Shane Wikfors at firstname.lastname@example.org and let him know you’ll be there.)

*Think that jackalopes do not exist? Well, that’s how a lot of taxpayers feel when we tell them that there are pro-taxpayer elected officials in state and local government. But they really do exist. And we plan to honor them at our luncheon. Please join us!
