Texans make House Calls on Congress

Texans throughout the state made Congressional House Calls at their local district offices on Nov. 5, before the big health care vote which is scheduled to take on Nov. 6. Many of our Texas members even made their way to Washington, D.C. to make those House Calls in person at the U.S. Capitol.

In Waco, more than 100 of Rep. Chet Edwards' constituents showed up at his office to say, "Keep your hands off our health care." The Waco Tea Party and their organizer, Toby Marie Walker, did an amazing job turning out the grassroots in that part of Edwards' district. This is a big district and that is a good showing for a rather rural area.

AFP State Director Peggy Venable went to Waco to pass out "Prescription for Healthy Reform" petitions, which you can find below.

The pressure is on for Rep. Edwards, who said that he is "undecided" on how he will vote. If he makes the wrong decision on Nov. 6, rest-assured his constituents won't be "undecided" as to his future in Congress.

Staff members in Rep. Lloyd Doggett's office also got an earful from constituents in the 25th Congressional District today -- that was, until the staffers kicked the "Prescription for Healthy Reform" petition signers out of the building for "loitering" in the hallway.

What was really going on? The petition-signers stopped to take photos with AFP staffers near the elevators:

You still have time to let your Congressman/woman know that you support healthy reforms, like the ability to buy insurance across state lines, tort reform, and tax credits for insurance -- not a radical government takeover. Just download the "Prescription for Healthy Reform" petition below, sign, and fax it to your Congressman's district office. Click here to find out your nearest office.
