BOGOTA,NJ – Americans for Prosperity is responding today to Congressman John Adler’s call for his opponent in New Jersey’s 3rd District, Jon Runyan, to denounce the state’s leading free market organization.
AFP state director Steve Lonegan addressed Adler’s statements made at a press conference today and published on PolitickerNJ.com.
“Like so many of his House colleagues, Congressman Adler wants to do anything but talk about his failed big government record.
“Americans for Prosperity wants people to be rich and enjoy a fruitful retirement, while John Adler wants them to live off of a meager stipend.
“Congressman Adler’s call for his opponent Jon Runyan to denounce our organization is nothing short of bizarre and smacks of a candidate desperate to gain traction with voters. Congressman Adler’s outlandish attacks are nothing but an attempt to divert attention from his support of the radical Pelosi agenda he has aided and abetted for the past two years.
“The fact of the matter is the truth hurts and John Adler doesn’t want his constituents to know his true record. John Adler doesn’t like that Americans for Prosperity is educating the voters and giving them the facts about his support for billions in failed stimulus and Wall Street bailouts -- and a job-destroying Cap & Trade energy tax.
“At this point there’s nothing left in the playbook except for Adler to demonize his opponents, try to fool voters about his record and make ridiculous assertions about AFP.”
As part of Americans for Prosperity’s November Is Coming campaign, the free market organization is leading a nationwide, grassroots effort to educate voters about the records of incumbent representatives in over sixty key swing districts. The campaign also includes an advertising blitz on radio and TV.
