“Hands Off My Health Care” Town Hall Meeting Wednesday 7 PM at NC State Fair Grounds

Event to Rally Against Health Care Takeover, Send Returning Congress a Message

Free event will include viewing of president’s address to Congress and rebuttal from health care experts after speech

RALEIGH, N.C. – Americans for Prosperity will hold a  Patients First “Hands off my Health Care” Town Hall meeting Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kerr Scott Building at the NC State Fairgrounds. The event will take place just before President Obama delivers his address to a joint session of Congress on the issue of health care.

Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the event will begin at 7:00 with a town hall-style meeting on true free-market health care reform.  The event will include viewing the president’s address and a rebuttal from AFP’s panel of experts on the issue. The event is free of charge, and concessions will be available for purchase.

We are excited to hear the President speak on health care reform. We hope he adopts free market health care solutions as part of his plan including expansion of health savings accounts, tax credits for health insurance purchase, tort reform and allowing citizens to purchase insurance across state lines. We welcome all people to attend this event, so they can hear both sides of the health care debate,” said Dallas Woodhouse, N.C. State Director of Americans for Prosperity.

Americans for Prosperity will be joined by leaders from the John Locke Foundation, the John William Pope Civitas Institute, doctors and patients. Citizens will be urged to call their senators, visit their district offices, and sign the Patients First petition. The petition asks all members of Congress to oppose any legislation that imposes greater government control over health care and results in fewer choices for patients and their families. It can be viewed and signed at www.JoinPatientsFirst.com.

“At the end of the day North Carolina citizens want patients and doctors making health care decisions, not government bureaucrats,” said Woodhouse. “We’ve got to let lawmakers know that the American people simply don’t want a government takeover of their health care, not matter how it is dressed up by White House.”
