Pennsylvania Citizens To Urge Senator Specter To Vote ‘No’ On Tax-Hiking Cap-and-Trade Legislation at Forums Across the State

-AFP forums will expose higher taxes and regulations hidden in cap-and-trade bill-

As Washington is discussing cap-and-trade legislation that would lead to the largest government power grab in history, Americans for Prosperity – America’s leading organization dedicated to promoting the principles of economic freedom – will host a series of educational forums in Pennsylvania starting July 28 to expose the hidden energy tax and unnecessary regulations in proposed cap-and-trade legislation.

“Americans don’t need the government regulating carbon emissions,” said Steven M. Lonegan, senior policy director for Americans for Prosperity. “The policies being discussed right now by Washington politicians and bureaucrats will drive up taxes and consumer prices, while putting millions out of work.”

Since cap-and-trade recently passed in the House of Representatives by a razor thin margin, AFP’s Steve Lonegan will be analyzing the legislation that will soon be reviewed by Senator Arlen Specter’s Environment and Public Works Committee in September.

Interested citizens will learn what they can do to stop this bill from becoming law and how they send Sen. Specter the message that PA citizens don’t want cap-and-trade. Attendees will receive a Social Meet-up kit and informational packet to help educate and organize their friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

The events are free and open to the public. Food and drinks will be served.
