PHOENIX – The Arizona chapter of Americans for Prosperity (AFP Arizona) announced today that organizers have received over 2,000 reservations for tomorrow’s Tax Day Tea Party at the Arizona State Capitol.
“As far as we know, the Phoenix Tea Party will be the largest taxpayer rally in state history,” said AFP Arizona State Director Tom Jenney.
The event, which will take place from 5:30 to 8:00 pm on the Senate Lawn, is part of a nationwide wave of grassroots demonstrations, in which taxpayers from all political parties will protest tax increases, corporate-welfare bailouts, government invasions in the private sector, and surging debt burdens placed on future generations.
“Government at all levels is out of control,” said Jenney. “We’re coming together tomorrow to take our country back.”
AFP Arizona will set up easy-to-use mailing stations that activists can use to send postcards to President Obama and Congress. The group will also announce a series of Legislative Town Halls to take place at locations across the state in the coming weeks.
In addition to Phoenix, there has been growing enthusiasm for the Tucson Tea Party, which has received well over a thousand reservations, and will take place at El Presidio Park downtown.
More than a dozen other Tea Parties will take place tomorrow in locations around the state. For more information, please visit www.aztaxpayers.org.
