Americans for Prosperity Praises Cal Cunningham's Brave Stand for Worker Rights

RALEIGH - Americans for Prosperity State Director Dallas Woodhouse issued the following statement in reaction to U.S. Senate candidate Cal Cunningham's announcement that he is opposed to the so-called Employee Free Choice Act, which would eliminate secret ballot protections in union organizing election:

"Cal Cunningham put the rights of workers ahead of the special interest union bosses that want to force workers to join and force them to pay dues. Cunningham deserves a lot of credit for standing up to union bosses--and Democratic Party bosses--more interested in finding a source of political funding through forced union dues than giving workers real choice of deciding--in private--whether or not they want to be represented by a union.

"I traveled the state last year on our Save My Ballot Tour and saw how strongly North Carolinians feel about opposing card check legislation. I commend Cal Cunningham for, like Senator Richard Burr but unlike Cunningham's Democratic primary opponents, putting the rights of works ahead of union bosses.”
